A real-world perspective from Indian pediatricians on typhoid vaccination perceptions and preferences

Background: Typhoid vaccines are not a part of national immunization schedule in India, current survey aimed to evaluate pediatricians’ perception, recommendation patterns, and preference regarding typhoid conjugate vaccine (TCV) children adults. Methods: This was an observational, cross-sectional amongst 500 pediatricians practicing at various healthcare setups/clinics/hospitals located across India. The TCV were assessed using pre-defined, structured, self-administered questionnaire which consisted 25 open- close-ended questions. Results: highly recommended aged 9-24 months (61%), with only 57% the age group being vaccinated. lowest recommendations observed groups 5-12 years (35%) 12-18 (25%). predominant barriers for parents who getting their >12 old vaccinated include lack parent’s awareness that can be given adolescents (61%) wrong assumption child when young (56%). top key factors influencing included advice doctors, mention vaccination card, previous elder sibling, suffering from typhoid. Conclusions: Overall pediatrician parent acceptance rates is low. Pediatricians study believe 2 doses necessary paediatric group. Advice doctor, card activities by pharmaceutical companies play crucial role improving TCV.
